Innovation Norway organized a workshop on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Mumbai to familiarize Norwegian companies with the new Indian legislation on CSR and to encourage them to not only abide by the local laws but also aim to achieve the Norwegian standards on CSR. Business News Daily refers to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as the fundamental business practices with which key company initiatives are focused on maintaining ethical labor standards, minimizing impacts to the environment, customer engagement and charitable acts which benefit society. Consumer studies conducted by Nielsen showed sales increases for retailers that affirmatively embraced the principles defined by Corporate Social Responsibility. More importantly, buyers were willing to pay more for products and services rendered by such companies.
